American University is a tobacco and smoke free campus.The Department of Psychology at New Mexico State University invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in Applied Psychology broadly defined starting in Fall 2020.

Ability to take an active teaching and mentoring role in the MA program in Research and Experimental Psychology.

Depending on qualifications, the appointee to this position may be recommended for tenure at the time of hiring. Candidates should be strongly committed to excellence in scholarly research and undergraduate and graduate teaching and learning.

We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality scholarship, with a preference for applicants conducting research that investigates the link between health and environment, broadly construed. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of research; seek external funding for their lab; teach, advise, mentor and supervise the research of undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students; and participate in departmental, school, and university-level service activities. Starting Date : August 13, 2020 Eligibility : Employment is contingent upon proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

The candidate must maintain a productive research program, which may consist of collaborative research across the University, with other academic institutions, or other external agencies.

The candidate will participate in service through membership on department, college, and university committees, and through academic advising of students.

Student mentoring is valued in our department, and a successful candidate will mentor and support undergraduate and graduate students of diverse backgrounds in conducting research.

The candidate will be expected to develop a program of research focused on the scientific study of cognitive psychology, and to pursue both internal and external funding.
