This workshop is a bi-weekly interdisciplinary link between course work and independent research.
We will offer a little structure and support as you find your own voices as scholars and researchers.
The course is intended to develop the ability to make philosophical arguments and to write structured philosophical essays.
It will serve to prepare students for research and writing their dissertation.

This workshop seeks to help you get well on your way to producing a great dissertation by helping you through the process of writing the dissertation prospectus.The workshop is organized around short memo assignments that build toward a finished proposal.The Office of Academic Services is pleased to announce Thesis and Dissertation Workshops for students who plan to file for graduation.In addition to examining the various guidelines for thesis and dissertation preparation, the workshops will give you an opportunity to ask specific questions about the format of your project.After completion of the six dissertation credits, students must continually register for one to three (1-3) credits per semester until they have finished the dissertation and met all the requirements for the degree.The defense consists of a public presentation of the dissertation results that members of the Dissertation Committee and others are given the opportunity to ask questions before approving or disapproving the dissertation.When students have completed their Research Prospectus, they invite their Dissertation Committee members for a presentation of the Research Prospectus.At this time, the committee approves the research topic and the student continues with preparation of the first three chapters of the Dissertation (Research Proposal).
