Applicants must have been accepted to a nursing degree program in an institution of higher learning and must practice in Oregon upon graduation.

Particular emphasis is given to preparation in public health nursing.

Regional winners will each receive a $1,000 scholarship for higher education.

National winners will receive a $10,000 scholarship, plus Kohl‰Ûªs will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit of the student‰Ûªs choice.

Each department (state) winner who is certified into and participates in the national contest‰Ûªs first round receives a $1,500 to any graduating high school senior entering their freshman year at an accredited (not for profit) two- or four-year university, college or vocational/technical institute.
