The winner of the competition will receive £100 and their entry will be published on the website and shared via various social media outlets.
The runner up will receive £50 and there will also be two commendations of £25.
The Competition was established in 2008 by Carol Ann Duffy (UK Poet Laureate 2009-19) and has awarded more than £175,000 to writers.
Each year two £10,000* prizes are awarded: the Manchester Poetry Prize for best portfolio of poems and the Manchester Fiction Prize for best short story.
Be creative, be unpredictable, be different; the judges are looking for intriguing ideas and addictive prose.
The theme of this year’s competition is ‘Love Letters’ and we want you to pack them with romance, originality and creativity.
We hope you find this list useful, and wish you good luck with your writing! Books that inspire support for climate-friendly, agriculturally sustainable, and good-for-us eating.
We tilt toward stories that feature solutions and problem-solvers.
The prizes are presented at a televised award ceremony held in winter by celebrities from the world of literature and entertainment, and include video links to any winners who are unable to be present.
Our 2018 competition, Precious, proved extremely popular, receiving entries from over twenty-five different countries.
