The Anzac Centenary aims to honour the sacrifice and service of all who have served from the original ANZACS on the shores of Gallipoli, up to the service men and women currently serving at home and abroad. The Anzac Centenary Reflections Competitions is looking for entries that reflect some or all of these themes in a creative, engaging and impacting way through the medium of film, photography, short story and poetry.This period recognises the generations of Australian men and women who have defended our values and freedoms in wars, conflicts and peace operations throughout a Century of Service. The creative entries should underpin an overall theme of commemoration, reflection and honour, paying tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.He has taught at universities including Columbia, the University of California-Berkeley, and the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Poet Mark Jarman hailed Simpson as "a poet of the American character and vernacular." Simpson lived on the north shore of Long Island, near Stony Brook.

The competition provides the opportunity for young South Australians to examine and empathise with the remarkable sacrifices of South Australian service men and women during the 20th century.

All 10 winners, their families, and a teacher of their choice will be invited to a dinner held in their honor.

Winners will also appear at center court during half-time of the Colorado State Boys Basketball Championship game at the Denver Coliseum Denver, Colorado.

This competition also provides entrants an opportunity to have their work featured on the Anzac Centenary website and to be included in the state’s time capsule project as part of the states commemoration of the Anzac Centenary. The writing category will have two $250 prizes awarded for creative writing and poetry respectively.

One major prize of a trip for two to the Australian War Memorial in Canberra will be awarded to an overall winner from any category judged to be the highest merit and best explores issues and themes related to the ANZAC Centenary.His first book was The Arrivistes, published in 1949.It was hailed for its strong formal verse, but Simpson later moved away from the style of his early successes and embraced a spare brand of free verse.is a national competition for Year 9 and 10 students.The competition encourages participants to focus on the significance of Anzac Day and to consider what Anzac Day means to them and to Australia.Each year we encourage Colorado high school seniors from across the state to write a 1,500-word essay about the importance of the civil jury system as the guardian of American rights and liberties.Partnering with the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) over the past 8 years, we have awarded ,000 in scholarships to college-bound students.Simpson was born in Jamaica, the son of Rosalind (née Marantz) and Aston Simpson, a lawyer. His mother was born in Russia (Simpson did not find out that he was Jewish until his teenage years).During World War II, from 1943 to 1945 he was a member of the elite 101st Airborne Division and would fight in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.In the Netherlands, he was involved in Market Garden and Opheusden fighting.At Veghel his company suffered 21 killed in a brutal shelling while in the local church yard.
